The Government of The Bahamas, The Fox Foundation, Breezes Bahamas, and the Usain Bolt Foundation have partnered to deliver urgently needed relief supplies to Jamaica following the impact of Hurricane Melissa. The coordinated effort ensured that essential items were distributed directly to families in Falmouth, Jamaica, with on-the-ground support from FYI & Friends.
The initiative reflects a shared commitment among Caribbean nations and organizations to collaborate in times of need, strengthening regional ties through collective action and humanitarian support.
Minister Leon Lundy highlighted the importance of regional unity during times of crisis. “When Caribbean nations stand together, we show the world what true unity looks like,” he said, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening bonds across the region.
Muna Issa of Breezes Bahamas described the initiative as a natural extension of shared Caribbean values. “The Caribbean is one family,” she said. “We were honoured to support our neighbours and grateful to the Usain Bolt Foundation, FYI, and friends for ensuring the supplies were placed directly in the hands of those who needed them most.”
Adrrian Fox, Founder of The Fox Foundation, emphasized the effectiveness of collaboration across organizations. “The Fox Foundation, together with 25 United and Breezes, helped send in two planeloads of relief supplies during the first week after the hurricane. This new effort simply builds on that early support.”
